Be well prepared for your business trip
- Wednesday 1 June 2022

Now that the May vacation is over, Schiphol Airport should be more quieter, but unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth. Staff shortages at Schiphol and at the airlines continue to persist, making it difficult to keep up with the busy traffic at our national airport. On busy days this can even lead to flights being cancelled.
Is traveling by car or train not an option and is flying really necessary for your business travellers? Then here is our advice on how to arrive at Schiphol as best prepared as possible.
Check your trip in advance.
Make sure you have all your travel information at hand in advance. Install VKC Travel’s free AirGo-M app on your mobile. You can then check your flight details at any time. In addition, you will automatically receive a notification if there are changes in the departure times of your flight or in the event of a flight cancellation. You can find more information at www.airgo-m.nl.
Take into account the corona regulations at your destination.
In the Netherlands there are almost no corona regulations anymore, but this does not mean that you do not have to take into account possible corona rules at your destination.
You can check www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/reisadvies to see if there are specific corona rules at your destination.
Check in at home.
Many airlines offer the possibility to check in online at home. This saves time at the check-in desks. In some cases this is not possible, because the airline has to check whether you meet all the conditions for travel to your destination.
Are you able to check in in advance and are you travelling with hand luggage only? Then you may proceed directly to security.
Go to www.vcktravel.nl/travel-info/online-inchecken/ to check in online.
Be at Schiphol on time.
Depending on what time you can check in, you can generally expect to arrive at Schiphol 2 hours in advance for European flights and 3 hours for intercontinental flights. However, if (large) crowds are expected at Schiphol, it is advisable to arrive at Schiphol earlier. You can check the expected crowds on www.schiphol.nl/nl/mijn-reisdag/.
