Vaccinated visitors welcome back in US from November 8

Reizen naar de Verenigde Staten

The United States will begin admitting travellers with COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) from November 8. On September 20, it was announced that travel restrictions would be lifted in November for fully vaccinated travellers from 33 countries, including the Netherlands. At that time it did not specify then which vaccines would be accepted and the exact date.

WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines also allowed

Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) reported this week that AstraZeneca will soon also be permitted for international visitors to the United States. Despite the fact that this vaccine has not been approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is in line with IATA’s position that all vaccines approved by the WHO should also be validated in the United States.

Current entry ban

The entry ban currently in effect has nothing to do with nationality, but rather with recent travel history. Currently, the only way to enter the United States from the Netherlands is by applying for a NIE (National Interest Exception).

The lifting of the travel restrictions as of November 8 marks the end of the entry ban that was introduced over a year and a half ago to prevent the coronavirus. From then on, therefore, it is not necessary to go into quarantine. Not upon arrival in America and also not after returning to the European Union or the United Kingdom.
