‘Small bags only’ at Schiphol Airport to be continued through October

The special ‘Small bags only’ passages through the security checks at Schiphol Airport will remain open for a longer period of time.

This summer, during peak times, Schiphol Airport tested the use of these passages for travellers with no baggage or with only a small bag. The results of this trial have shown that the ‘Small bags only’ passages reduce queues. Travellers can use the special entrance if they carry only one item of hand baggage, such as a small handbag, backpack or laptop bag (40x30x20cm). The trial also revealed that 15-20% more travellers pass the ‘Small bags only’ security check than at the regular security checkpoints. For this reason, the passages will remain open at set times until the end of October: in Departure Hall 1 from 03:00 to 20:00, in Departure Hall 2 from 06:00 to 16:00, and in Departure Hall 3 from 06:30 to 20:30.
