Long waiting times at Schengen borders at airports
Passengers traveling from or to destinations within the Schengen area, are subject to stricter checks when crossing the border.
The check no longer only consist checking the passport, but each traveller will be screened via different databases when crossing the border. This check takes an average of two minutes per person, which means that the usual waiting times may take longer than usual. We advise travellers to take into account additional travel time and to be present at the airport four hours before departure of the flight, instead of the usual two hours.
