KLM adjusts COVID-19 measures

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, KLM has taken various measures around screening and hygiene to protect you and KLM staff on board and at the airports. Watch the earlier video from KLM. Because advice and guidelines are subject to change, they have now adapted their next measures accordingly:

Catering on board

On European flights, KLM serves a box designed by Marcel Wanders with breakfast, lunch or dinner in World Business Class – depending on the time of day. In Economy Class you get a box with a sandwich. Soft drinks, wine, beer, coffee and tea are served with the meal.

On Intercontinental flights KLM serves a tray designed by Marcel Wanders with a hot dish, salad, dessert, cheese and crackers in World Business Class. In Economy Class you will receive a tray with a hot meal, a salad and a dessert. You will also receive a bag with snacks, fruit and drinks. KLM serves soft drinks, wine and beer with the meal. Coffee and tea are available on request. Unfortunately it is not possible to order a special meal.

Mouth cap

It is mandatory to change your mask every 4 hours, or sooner if a mask becomes dirty or damp. You are advised to bring plenty of mouth masks for the whole journey.


The World Business Class toiletry bag now also contains a bottle of disinfectant handle. From 18 August 2020, all Economy Class passengers on both European and Intercontinental flights will receive a disinfectant gel bag. On Intercontinental flights, passengers will also receive a disinfectant wipe.


KLM’s Schengen Crown Lounge is open from 06.00 – 12.00 hrs. Outside these times, Schengen travellers are also welcome in the KLM Non-Schengen Crown Lounge. The KLM Non-Schengen Crown Lounge is open from 07.00 – 21.00 hours.
