24-hour visa-free stopover in Guangzhou no longer possible

Travellers with a stopover in Guangzhou are no longer allowed to leave the airport without a visa (24-hour visa-free stopover). This temporary measure, introduced by the local authorities, applies to all passengers whose next flight leaves within 24 hours.

Those whose stopover is more than 8 hours and less than 24 hours are now required to apply for a visa for accommodation in the city. However, if transfer time is at least 24 hours, travellers can apply for a 72-hour visa-free stopover specifically for Guangzhou. In this way, travellers will be able to visit Guangzhou without needing a normal Chinese visa.
